2027 Optiq EV - Key Upgrades, Performance, Features, Range & More!

What should you expect from a luxury electric SUV in 2027? Range matters, but so do charging convenience, winter capability, cabin technology, comfort and the confidence to handle everyday Canadian roads.

The 2027 Cadillac OPTIQ brings those priorities together in a compact luxury SUV with rear-wheel-drive and available all-wheel-drive configurations, up to 510 km of Cadillac-estimated range, a 33-inch Horizon Display and available Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance. For Ottawa drivers, it also offers the flexibility of dual-motor AWD for additional traction when winter weather arrives.

What's New for the 2027 Cadillac OPTIQ?

The 2027 model year expands the OPTIQ's appeal with a broader choice of RWD and AWD configurations and updated charging capability. Rear-wheel drive now provides the highest Cadillac-estimated range of up to 510 km, while available dual-motor AWD delivers substantially more power at 440 hp and 498 lb-ft of torque.

Charging is another important update. The vehicle uses a standard NACS charging port, supports Level 1, Level 2 and DC fast charging, and can add up to 130 km of estimated range in about 10 minutes at a compatible public DC fast charger. An available 19.2-kW AC onboard charger can further increase home-charging capability.

For Canadian buyers, these changes make the new model easier to tailor: choose RWD if maximum range is your priority or AWD if additional performance and traction matter more.

Technology Designed Around the Driver

One of the strongest reasons to consider this EV is its technology. Every trim features Cadillac's 33-inch Horizon Display, while Google built-in provides access to compatible apps, navigation, traffic information and other connected functions. Over-the-air updates can also keep supported vehicle software current without requiring every update to be handled at a dealership.

The cabin can also be equipped with a 19-speaker AKG Studio Audio System with Dolby Atmos, wireless phone charging and 126-colour dual-zone ambient lighting. Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance is standard, with a three-year OnStar One plan included.

For longer Ontario highway trips, these features can make the driving experience feel less demanding while keeping important information and controls close at hand.

Exterior Design: Luxury With a Sportier Edge

Cadillac gives buyers two distinct design directions. The Luxury trims use Galvano Chrome detailing and an illuminated black-crystal grille with the Cadillac crest, while Sport versions use Obsidian Chrome detailing and a Sport grille.

Standard 20-inch alloy wheels contribute to the SUV's substantial stance, while available 21-inch wheels provide a more aggressive appearance. The available SkyGlass roof with power shade also brings more light into the cabin without giving up the practicality of an SUV roofline.

The OPTIQ-V goes further with V-Series-specific styling, 21-inch reverse-rim wheels, a lower suspension, unique front and rear treatments and performance-oriented exterior details.

Interior Comfort and Cargo Space

Inside, the focus is on combining technology with a quieter, more premium environment. Standard equipment includes power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, driver memory functions and Inteluxe seating surfaces. Premium Luxury and Premium Sport trims add ventilated and massaging front seats, heated rear outboard seats and additional lighting features.

There is also useful flexibility for everyday errands and road trips, with maximum cargo volume reaching 1,614 litres with the rear seats folded. That makes the two-row SUV suitable for groceries, luggage and recreational equipment without requiring a larger three-row vehicle.

For Ottawa households, that combination can be useful whether the vehicle is handling a weekday commute, a weekend trip through Eastern Ontario or a winter shopping run.

Electric Performance and Range

The standard single-motor RWD system produces 315 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Cadillac estimates up to 510 km of range with this configuration, making it the logical choice for buyers who want to maximize distance between charges.

Available dual-motor AWD increases output to 440 hp and 498 lb-ft, delivering quicker response and additional traction through all four wheels. Cadillac estimates up to 510 km of range for certain AWD configurations, while exact range varies with equipment and wheel selection.

The performance-focused OPTIQ-V takes another major step, producing up to 519 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque in Velocity Max. It also adds performance hardware including Brembo front brakes, Continuous Damping Control, Launch Control, Competitive Mode and V-Mode.

The 85-kWh battery supports the lineup, with NACS providing convenient access to compatible home and public charging infrastructure.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The 2027 model includes an extensive selection of active safety and driver-assistance technologies. Cadillac lists Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning among its safety features.

Super Cruise adds another layer of highway convenience by providing hands-free driving assistance on compatible roads. However, it remains a driver-assistance system rather than an autonomous driving system, so drivers must continue monitoring the road and vehicle operation.

Which 2027 Cadillac OPTIQ Is Right for You?

The Luxury RWD is the sensible starting point if range and premium technology are your priorities. The Sport gives you a more aggressive visual personality without requiring the V-Series price jump.

For buyers who want more cabin luxury, the Premium Luxury adds features such as ventilated and massaging seats and a head-up display. The Premium Sport combines those comfort upgrades with the Sport design theme.

If performance is the deciding factor, the OPTIQ-V is in another category. Its 519-hp output, performance suspension, Brembo brakes and driver-selectable performance modes make it the enthusiast-focused member of the lineup.

For Ottawa and the wider Ontario market, the key decision may ultimately be range versus AWD capability. RWD provides the maximum available range, while AWD offers more power and an additional layer of traction for changing road conditions. Either way, the 2027 lineup gives you more ways to match an electric luxury SUV to your driving priorities.
